An exhaust tip, also called a tailpipe finisher, is the visible piece that finishes your car’s exhaust outlet. This guide helps you decide whether a carbon fibre one suits you, which size you need and what to check before buying.
What an exhaust tip is, and what it is not
It is a cosmetic part that changes the look of the exhaust outlet. It does not replace the silencer, the catalytic converter or any other part of the exhaust system, and it should not be presented as a power or sound upgrade. If you want to change how the car sounds or performs, you need a different kind of part.
Carbon fibre or stainless steel
- Carbon fibre: stands out for its visible weave and sporty look. It is the option for those who put design first.
- Stainless steel: metallic finish, easy to clean and corrosion-resistant. It is the more understated option.
The AutoSchloss carbon fibre tip combines real carbon fibre with 304 stainless steel. There is also the G8 model, in stainless steel.
How to choose the size
Size is the only thing that decides whether the part fits, and it depends not on the car model but on the outer diameter of your tailpipe. There are two ranges: 63–89 mm and 80–102 mm. In each, the first figure is the inlet and the second the outlet. For example, in 63–89 mm the inlet is 63 mm and the outlet 89 mm.
Check this before you buy
- You have measured the outer diameter of the pipe, not the inner one.
- You have measured the original pipe and not a decorative tip already fitted.
- Your size falls within one of the two available ranges.
- You have checked there is free space behind the pipe for the part.
Where to buy
You can see both available options, with prices and sizes, in the AutoSchloss shop. Prices are in euros and shipping is calculated at checkout.
